ACTIVATE YAHoy es un buen día para empezar Vamos, estamos a tiempo, ya se acerca Navidad y todos sabemos que esas fechas son especiaaaales para aumentar unos kilitos demás, y es que en un promedio de 3 kilos son  los que se suelen aumentar en esas fechas, por la cantidad de banquetes,  fiestas, reuniones familiares, de trabajo, etc. Así que vamos a prevenir y empezar desde ya a prepararnos para que lleguen esas fechas y estemos listos, si comienzas desde ya a ejercitarte conmigo y a seguir una alimentación  mejor cuando llegue Diciembre  podrás tomar mejores decisiones a la hora de elegir los menús navideños, porque créeme  no querrás dañar todo lo que has logrado, y si no puedes  pecar sin tanto remordimiento. Sabiendo que no afectará  mucho esos dos kilitos de más.  Te daré  algunos tips que puedes empezar a seguir YA para bajar un poco de peso antes de las fiestas. 
1- No eliminar Grasas, por el contrario, desde que te levantes vas a consumir grasas buenas de manera moderada. Con el desayuno. Medio aguacate, un pulado de nueces, una cucharada de mantequilla de mani o una cucharada de aceite de coco  con el jugo verde. Escoge y varia diariamente para que no te aburras. 
2-Elimina casi en su totalidad harinas refinadas, esto incluye pan,  Tortas, galletas, pastas.
3- Elimina bebidas azucaradas como jugos de sobres, pote así  digan Natural, y refrescos. 
4-Toma te natural durante el día,  prepara tu termo frío o caliente y llevalo contigo a todas partes, puedes hacer varios al día,  puede ser de jengibre, te verde, de manzanilla,varía  y añade sólo media cucharadita de miel si no te gusta sin nada de azúcar.

Can’t believe this was over a week ago now. 
Was a great experience this year to do multiple shows and categories, as I came away with valuable experience and knowledge on what I need to work on, but also proved a lot to myself.
Getting into this shape with no use of a gym, just a squat rack, free weights and the out doors for cardio, showed me I was stronger mentally than I thought. I haven’t been back to lifting yet, as a well deserved holiday is in progress, but itching to get back on it and start training and working on my weakness, no doubt with @theashleyhealey helping me achieve a new physique.

I topped my oatmeal today with the dregs of the frozen raspberry bag. Lots of vitamins and minerals in those yummy berries. Plus some hemp seeds for healthy omega 3 fatty acids and a wider mineral profile.

Here’s what you want to be eating pre-workout:

At least 25 grams of protein. Around 30-50 grams of carbs, maybe more if your daily needs require you to eat more. Some water and maybe some caffeine if that’s your jam. (it definitely is mine!)

Nutrition is important for runners and non-runners.

We should all be more conscious of what we're consuming. I've always cared about nutrition but it wasn't until a few months ago, when I changed my lifestyle for the better that I realised not only was I capable of being healthier, more aware, helping the environment and animals... I also realised I am capable of setting goals so huge that can only inspire others and push myself even further, physically and mentally... I'm talking about signing up for the 65km @utct. Just over 2 years ago, I couldn't run further than 5km.

Going completely plant based has benefited me in SO many ways but I've seen the most improvement in my sports. I'm leaner, faster, stronger and overall I'm feeling so much healthier and energetic!

I learnt that there was nothing I needed in animal products that I couldn’t get from plant-based foods, and I feel a lot better about eating an organic fruit or vegetables that I can trace back to the earth, than an animal product that was created with who knows how many chemicals and hormones and mistreatment.

I also think I'm so deeply fond of this new lifestyle because as a runner, especially inclined to be in the running in the mountain, I find myself even more rooted to the earth and appreciate mother nature even more.

I understand there are many debates of which diet is better for you when it comes to sports enhancement. Many follow a Keto diet, whereas there are no carbs and fat is used for energy but my body thrives off veggies, fruit, legumes and complex carbs which are filled with healthy vitamins, nutrition etc. so this is my journey and I'm excited to share it with you.

Just another side note. I'm not in favour of ultra-processed vegan alternative options that are now widely available in most grocery stores. I greatly favour in eating WHOLE foods and eating homemade food, that way you aren't consuming loads of sugar, salt, oil, preservatives etc.

Trust me. I would not have entered a 65km Trail run if I wasn't 100% certain on my nutrition intake.

The next month will be concentrated on the topic RUNNING VEGAN - stay tuned

When they say I CUT CARBS it usually means I REDUCE CALORIES.

Nutrients of Calories per gram
Protein 1g =4 cal
Carbs 1g=4 cal
Fat 1g=9 cal

The truth about (insert carb or fat) reduction... 1) Cutting down carbs is easier for someone who is on high carbs.

2) Cutting down fats is easier for someone who is on high fats.

Blaming one food group ie carbs is not true because if overeating or undereating  ANY food group,  all food groups which exceed or under your maintainence calories, you will lose weight /gain weight.

If you think carbs is the problem I raise you this. Isn't vegetables and fruits also a carb? Why dont we cut that too?

As mention, over eating your calories gains your weight, not the bread, the sun, the moon, or your ancestors.

BUT I SEE HER CUT (INSERT CARB) AND LOST WEIGHT!!! YES  it's correct and true, because when she says no to the *insert food* she also change her overall diet which reduce her calories, not the food did some curse or magic to her body.

Often the over looked part of fitness, I touched briefly upon this on one of my previous posts but how important is it to do tissue work ie self massage, deep tissue massages, foam rolling etc? Isn’t stretching enough? ‍️

The simple answer is that is very important, think of it from this perspective, you have a piece of string and it has a knot in. You tighten it ie stretch it. Does that get the knot out? No ‼️

You have to work into the knots, into the tight muscle tissue to release the fibres then stretch afterwards. Otherwise your muscle tissue won’t be fully mobile and ready to work to its highest performance inside or outside of the gym

Aside from being good for the gut, supporting the immune system and helping to maintain healthy skin, bone broth is also known the boost detoxification, aid metabolism, promote probiotic balance and growth, and support healthy joints!

‌How to make your own Bone Broth?

‌ Ingredients (for 1 Liter)
‌10kg bones from a healthy, ethical source
‌1 onion
‌2 carrots
‌2 celery stalks
‌2 Tbs apple cider vinegar

‌Method
‌1. If you are using raw bones, start by roasting them in the oven for 30 minutes on 180
‌2. Place the bones in a large pot and cover with filtered water.
‌3. Add the apple cider vinegar
‌4. Let them sit in the cool water for 30 minutes.
‌5. Roughly chop and add the vegetables
‌6. Bring the broth to a boil, and then reduce to a simmer until a liquid is formed (this can take up to 24hours)
‌7. Remove from heat and let cool slightly
‌8. Strain to remove the remaining bits of bone and vegetables
‌9. Once cooled, store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze to use later.

‌Tips: Put your bone broth in dishes like soups, stews, gravies and sauce you gone be grateful for their taste, or just eat it alone!
